About Us
We are two foodies. We love queuing for the best loaf of bread, best piece of raw fish, best macaroon, best noodle. We eat anything and everything. We live to eat and we both love cooking.
Marianna is keen on making cheese and even spent some time in France milking goats. She has a pet sour dough starter which she takes with her on vacation. Marianna also writes freelance for a food & wine magazine in Finland. The “I” in the articles tends to be Marianna. Feels weird to write about myself in the third person so I will stop. I have always dreamed of opening a restaurant and maybe some time soon I will. I spend my days reading cookbooks and cooking. That is when I am not trying out restaurants, shops and anything and everything that Cape Town has to offer.
Why this site? We just moved to Cape Town. Cameron moved back after 10 years in Asia and Europe and I moved to Cape Town after a rather nomadic 30 years in Europe. Longer stints (of eating and drinking) in Helsinki (which I call home), London, Paris and Amsterdam. To get to know the foodie side of Cape Town, I made it my mission to eat something/where interesting three times a week. I am an environmental consultant by training but I have spent eight years working at restaurants, bars and a catering company. I am also an eager wine student. I am currently working on my diploma studies at the Cape Wine Academy.

I am soooo glad that I have met you at the FBI!! I did not (yet) read a lot of the posts, but it looks like a great blog!!
Thanks!! It was great to meet you too! (sorry for slow response – have been travelling!)
You must try Etienne Bonthuys’s new place, Casparus Restaurant in Stellenbosch, the food is to die for. It’s new so the waiters are a bit green.
Thanks for the tip Nicholas! We will be sure to give it a try soon!
